This presentation establishes a continuous thread with the exhibition presented at the Galeria Municipal Artur Bual in Amadora, “BUT FIRST, SOME REBELLION”, on show until 13 June 2021, which focuses on an exploration of torn drawings, now reflected in new surroundings.

“IT’S LIKE ENDING A POEM... - A PROCESS OF SEDUCTION” materializes a process of seduction in a fragile exhibition, comprising mostly delicate watercolor paintings on torn pieces of paper, torn “skin”, unfinished figures, fragments, human bodies, animals and stories yet to be told.

The torn paper, along with the representation of the body, and all the energy used up in detaching the figures, ripping the pieces, invokes visceral feelings and strong emotions.

The paper is like an extension of the skin, concealing in its shadows unfinished gestures, perpetuating mysterious bodies, melancholic memories, the repetitive gesture of tearing paper. A process of seduction.

This visceral gesture through which delicate figures are severed from their bodies, reinforces the raw emotions and a certain melancholy that the artist has been reaching for in her work. Restless spirits, sensitive, hushed rebellions, a process of seduction, little pleasures that reflect something feral in its reality, the reality of chaos, destructive epiphanies, or a reality of creation, by way of frail images that, in the end, are unbreakable.
