Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.

This field, arid, barren and neglected at first sight, is in reality bursting at the seams with life and it is filled with the strength of elements such as water, wild flowers, stone and soil. It is an immersive metaphor for the inevitability of a natural world that conquers all regardless of human intervention.
Thus the artist invites us to walk into a micro-universe, a garden that is made simply to exist and nothing else, and in which fragments of various types tell a story of resilience.
In this exhibition, Nature is as strong and hardy as it is delicate, poetic and pliable. The creating power of a Natura Naturans is felt as one walks through an imagined, quasi-sacred space. A blossoming universe that exists and persists not only in spite of the gallery walls but beyond them.
In the open field of the exhibition space, reality is presented both as is and as it can be perceived by our senses : a semiotic game where everything can become a symbol for something else, an imagined footprint for the human presence in the surrounding world and on the planet itself.
