Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
“A pedra e o charco”* is a staging of visual multiples, convergent or divergent, complementary or opposite, disposed openly in the gallery space, where viewers are invited to trace their own narrative route, to let themselves be carried by the interpretative possibilities contained in the elements presented by the artist, so as to compose, in either an intuitive or pondered way, their own stories.
* The title, which can be rendered in English as “The Stone and the Pond”, refers to the Portuguese expression “pedrada no charco” that literally means “to throw a stone into the pond”, i.e. to “create ripples” or “make waves”.
