Vasco Mourão // solo exhibition
Displaying his signature hand-drawing technique of urban landscapes, Vasco Mourão presents a small selection of works produced in the last few years that reflect his enthusiasm with the possibilities of blurring the boundaries between two-dimensional drawing and sculptural objects – working beyond the sheet of paper, exploring drawing on pieces of wood, brass, and stone.
As the artist himself reflects:
“Always drawn by hand, I wanted these seemingly infinite representations of urban landscapes to blend with the material that serves as their medium – using the different materials in order to impregnate each drawing with a mood: the warmth and texture of wood, the sharpness and perfection of metal, and the weight and roughness of stone.”
